Aunty Cindy Anderson has worked in early childhood education for about 40 years.
She said she enjoys working at the local Mums and Bubs in Cunnamulla with parents, carers, and little ones under 4 years old.
‘Mums and bubs is parents working with their bubs,’ Aunty Cindy said.
‘They’re sitting down doing puzzles together, sitting down reading stories, playing with toy animals and making yards for them, and just interacting with the kids.
‘The environment here is friendly and we make everyone comfortable and make them welcome.
‘It’s all about learning.’
With a long background in early childhood, Aunty Cindy knows how vital the early years are to a child’s development.
‘Early childhood is really important,’ Aunty Cindy said.
‘Children are learning all the time, even two-year-olds, one-year-olds, they’re learning from their parents.
‘We have the parents here with the little ones and I think that in itself is a learning opportunity for the parents and the kids.
‘I think it’s fabulous.’
She said children learn so much in just one year and they’re always excited to go to kindy or school.
‘By the end of the year, the little ones don’t need our help because they can do everything themselves,’ she said.
‘We have a couple of kids going to kindy next year and they’re looking forward to going because that’s the next step to learning.
‘The kids get to know other kids at Mums and Bubs so when they go to kindy and school they have a friendly face when they get there.’
‘So I think it’s important they come and interact with other kids before they go to school.’
